Active Disability Ireland Conference 2026

Active Disability Ireland will host their National Annual Conference on Wednesday, December 2nd at the Lyrath Estate in Co. Kilkenny, in celebration of International Day for Persons with Disabilities. The day will host important conversations around disability in sport and physical activity, focusing on the theme of this year’s conference; “Leading by Example".

The Active Disability Ireland National Conference brings together people from the sport, health, education and community sectors to share ideas, explore best practice, and drive meaningful conversations around inclusion.

As a leading agency in sport and physical activity over the past two decades, we have committed to supporting national policy and building an inclusive infrastructure across the sport sector. Every year, the conference continues to grow, reflecting a strong and increasing commitment to inclusion. This year’s theme ‘Leading By Example’, will highlight the leaders and best practices in inclusion across five key areas: 

• Openness
• People
• Activities
• Facilities
• Promotion

Previous conferences have featured government representatives, leading voices from across the sport sector, inspiring keynote speakers sharing lived experience, and interactive sessions that encourage discussion, challenge thinking, and inspire action. Attendees leave with new ideas, valuable connections, and renewed motivation to champion inclusion, influence change within their own organisations and communities, and challenge the barriers that prevent people with disabilities from participating in sport and physical activity.

We are proud of the impact we, along with our partners, have made, but we know there is still much more that needs to be done to achieve our vision of:

Creating an Ireland where people with disabilities have equal opportunities to be active.
