Covid Information:
The maximum capacity of participants per class will be 18 persons. The class is based on slow and self-contained exercises and it will be delivered mainly verbally. However, tactile cueing and feedback may be offered. Let A know before the beginning of class if you would prefer not to get tactile cueing. The wearing of masks indoors is still recommended if not exempt. Participants are invited to use masks when entering the building and while passing through the communal areas. People are welcome to remove or keep their masks during class; however, A will take off their mask during the class for clarity in its delivery. We will continue to open the windows to ventilate the room as much as the weather allows. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own mats and pillows/padding as there are no mats or padding available for public use in the building. (If you have any questions about this, email A de la Fe: adelafe@kleintechnique.com.)
Some measures to control the spread of Covid-19 will continue to be in place:
We continue to remind people not to attend class if feeling unwell or experiencing any symptoms of Covid-19. Check your symptoms with NHS 111 Online.

Klein Technique™ is a process-based system of work through which the body is analysed and understood in order to improve and to further movement potential, decrease and heal injuries. The technique was developed by Susan Klein in the early ’80s and has been studied and used by an entire generation of dancers and choreographers, including Trisha Brown, Sasha Waltz and members of their companies. Susan Klein, along with the certified teachers and those working to become certified, is always looking at the body in stillness and in motion to create new ways to explore it and to amplify its capacity to create greater efficiency and therefore to greater ease of movement and expanded movement choices. In the Stretch and Placement classes, we will work slowly, thoughtfully and deliberately; we will work in order to find and improve the body’s connections on the level of the bone; and we will learn to use the deep muscles of postural support (the psoas, the hamstrings, the external hip rotators and the pelvic floor) to integrate our bodies and improve our dynamic posture thus finding more effective ways of moving, dancing and choreographing. “The purpose of Klein Technique™ is education, not on the superficial level of mimicking form, but on a profoundly deep level of understanding the full use of the body as an integral whole to maximize full function of each individual’s unique movement potential. Working from the bones allows one to work from their unique identity, to dance and choreograph from their unique essential self.” (Susan Klein, 2018) The best way to understand what is Klein Technique™ is to experience it first hand. If you’d like to read more about it you can check what Susan Klein says about the technique at the Klein Technique™ website.
A is a London-based choreographer and performer with a background in physiotherapy and Pilates. They took their first Klein Technique™ workshop with Susan Klein in 2010 and since then they have studied regularly with her. A joined the fourth Klein Technique™ Teacher Certification Program in March 2016, taking place between New York and Europe, and in June 2019 they became certified as a Klein Technique™ teacher. A has been influenced by this work since their first encounter with it. They have applied the concepts and principles of Klein Technique™ to their own practice and to teaching dance. Since the summer of 2018, A has been teaching regularly Stretch and Placement classes in London.
