Program: Yurt Camping, in partnership with OSCI
Trip Date:
August, 14th - 16th, 2026
Cost:
sliding scale ($95-$195)

Adventures Without Limits' CampAbility Program invites individuals and families impacted by spinal cord injuries into a welcoming and supportive camping environment so that we can share our love of the outdoors with communities who may face barriers to access.

In partnership with Oregon Spinal Cord Injury Connection and Oregon State Parks, AWL will host up to 10 individuals or families for a weekend of camping in YURTS at South Beach State Park, August 14th - 16th, 2026.

What to expect:

  • A fun weekend outdoors and camping in yurts at South Beach State Park! Campers are welcome to participate in group activities (which may include hiking, kayaking, etc.) or enjoy the park independently.
  • The yurts at South Beach State Park are equipped with one futon, a bunk bed (with double on the bottom, twin bed on top), lights, electric heater, and 2 outlets. Accessible restrooms & showers are located in an outbuilding nearby.

What is a sliding scale?

  • The registration fee is offered on a sliding scale in an effort to reduce financial barriers to access, while also ensuring the long-term sustainability of this program. The sliding scale base (financial assistance needed) covers the cost of the reservation for 2 nights and (5) meals from Friday evening through Sunday morning, not the additional resources that go into this program.

Transportation:

  • Transportation is not provided, campers must be able to meet onsite at South Beach State Park.

Important Information:

  • All individuals participating must meet the Essential Eligibility Criteria.
  • Minors must be in attendance with a supervising adult. Ages 6 and up for on water activities (no exceptions).
  • Check-in on Friday, August 14th begins at 4:30 PM. Check-out on Sunday, August 16th by 12:00 PM (noon).
  • Simple camp meals will be provided by AWL Friday dinner - Sunday breakfast. We may or may not be able to accommodate dietary preferences, so we encourage campers to bring snacks to supplement group meals throughout the weekend.
  • You will notice that many of the yurts available are NOT pet friendly. Service animals are of course welcome, but non-service animal pets are only allowed in designated yurts. If you do bring a pet, please make sure they are friendly with other kids and dogs and stay on a 6 ft. leash at all times.
    • Please have a plan for care for your pet or service animal if you'd like to go kayaking. Pets or service animals who do not have previous experience and comfort in a kayak (able to sit still on your lap without impeding paddling for an extended period of time) could pose a safety risk to yourself and/or the group.
    • If your pet or service animal is over 15 lbs they will not fit in the boat.
    • AWL is not responsible for animals on or off the water.
  • Questions? Email jennifer@awloutdoors.org.

To register:

  1. Review AWL's Essential Eligibility Criteria and Cancellation Policies

  2. Register! - Click the red REGISTER HERE button to complete your registration. Participants can complete a single ticket registration per tent site. (ex. family or friends sharing a tent or tent space may complete a single ticket registration), and we encourage folks who are able to purchase individual registration tickets to do so.

  3. Look for a confirmation email ensuring that your registration is complete!

Participants will receive a registration email after they've completed the registration process. Liability Waivers and Gear Request Forms will be linked in the confirmation email. Participants MUST sign the electronic waiver and complete a gear request at least 7 days before the trip. If the participant signs the waiver or completes a gear request after this time frame, then we may not be able to accommodate any specific needs on the trip. If the participant fails to sign the waiver, they will not be permitted to join the trip.
