Program: Tent Camping, in partnership with Upstream Access
Trip Date: July 24th - 26th, 2026
Cost: sliding scale ($75 - $125) - What is a sliding scale?
Adventures Without Limits' CampAbility Program invites individuals and families into a welcoming and supportive camping environment so that we can share our love of the outdoors with communities who may face barriers to access.
In partnership with Upstream Access and Oregon State Parks, AWL will host up to 10 individuals or families for a weekend group TENT camping trip at Milo McIver State Park, July 24th-26th.
What to expect:
- A fun weekend tent camping outdoors! We'll be set up in a group campground at the Maple Day Use Area in Milo McIver State Park. Individuals and families are welcome to participate in group activities such as, a sunset paddle (Saturday), stargazing, time around the campfire, or enjoy the park independently.
- Upstream Access will also offer a few optional activities focused on emergency preparedness and resilience. Together, we'll explore what camping might look like during or after a disaster, discuss items and strategies that can help make outdoor sheltering safer and more comfortable, and share ideas for adapting plans to meet individual needs. Participants will receive a few preparedness items to add to their emergency kits that can be useful for both camping and disaster situations.
Cost to participate:
- The registration fee is offered on a sliding scale in an effort to reduce financial barriers to access, while also ensuring the long-term sustainability of this program. The sliding scale base (financial assistance needed) covers the cost of the reservation for 2 nights and (5) meals from Friday evening through Sunday morning, not the additional resources that go into this program.
Important Information:
- All individuals participating must meet the Essential Eligibility Criteria.
- Minors must be in attendance with a supervising adult. Participants must be 6 years-old or older to participate in kayaking.
- Campers must be able to meet onsite.
- Check in on Friday, July 24th begins at 4:30 PM. Check out on Sunday, July 26th by 12:00 PM (noon).
- Well behaved non-service animals may be allowed and must be kept on 6 ft. leash at all times.
- Please have a plan for care for your pet or service animal if you'd like to go kayaking. AWL is not responsible for animals on or off the water. Pets or service animals who do not have previous experience and comfort in a kayak (able to sit still on your lap without impeding paddling for an extended period of time) could pose a safety risk to yourself and/or the group.
- If your pet or service animal is over 15 lbs they will not fit in the boat. AWL staff will not be available to stay back with pets or service animals at any point during the trip.
- Simple camp meals will be provided by AWL Friday dinner - Sunday breakfast. We may or may not be able to accommodate dietary preferences, so we encourage campers to bring snacks to supplement group meals throughout the weekend.
