What's the vibe on an AWL raft trip?
- Family friendly: This is intended to be a family friendly trip. Adults are welcome to have adult beverages at camp in moderate amounts but we ask that you leave other substances at home.
- Rustic: As a reminder, this is a backcountry experience and bathrooms will consist of outhouses (where available), a groover (a river toilet system that we bring with us and set up each day), and the occasional bush. Please reach out if you have any questions about what this looks like or if you would like to discuss any support needs you may have.
- Collaborative: Our guides/volunteers are expert river runners! But it's a lot of work to row/paddle boats, unload, set up camp, cook, and clean each day. When possible, we'd love your help with setting up your tents, moving your personal gear, and washing your dishes after meals.
Is this trip right for me?
We believe that everyone belongs in the outdoors. Our trained guides, adaptive equipment and decades of experience allow us to host diverse communities in outdoor spaces. That being said, some trips may be better suited for your interests and comfort level. While it is not required, prior white water rafting experience is helpful. Participants should feel comfortable being on and in water and outdoors for extended periods of time with potential exposure to sun, heat, rain, cold and wildlife. You should expect to spend two nights sleeping in tents, using portable restrooms and several hours each day sitting and paddling in a raft. Please review our Water Sports Essential Eligibility Criteria prior to joining for more details. If you have any questions as to whether or not this is the proper trip for you, our staff would be happy to assist.
Next steps:

Participants will receive a registration email after they've completed the registration process. Liability Waivers and Gear Request Forms will be linked in the confirmation email. Participants MUST sign the electronic waiver and complete a gear request at least 7 days prior to the trip. If the participant signs the waiver or completes a gear request after this time frame, then we may not be able to accommodate any specific needs on the trip. If the participant fails the sign the waiver, they will not be permitted to join the trip.
