Bar opens 6.30pm | Showtime 7.30pm
Step right up, it's time to turn our circus show into a circus party at Open Rig Night!
You’ll be dazzled and delighted as our fabulous students show off their gravity-defying aerial and acrobatic skills and talents.
But wait, there's more! For the very first time, we're adding a splash of excitement with a licensed bar where you can grab a drink and soak in the pre-show buzz or raise a glass to the jaw-dropping performances after the curtain falls.
Our flying trapeze team is in the midst of a one-of-a-kind course focused on producing an act for this one special night.
You’ll also see acts from students on current and previous full-time Foundation Courses, our accomplished Youth Circus stars, and some pro circus artists showing works in progress.
So gather your gang, grab your glad rags, and let's make some memories!
This is a chance for you to enjoy circus acts in a whole range of stages of development, and for you to encourage the performers as they test their material on a live audience.
Spread the word to come along for a night of thrills, spills, joy and courage. See you there, circus dreamers!
The performance is suitable for all ages including children. The venue has some uneven floor surfaces, so after you have booked your ticket, you can reserve a seat and arrange accessibility support by emailing info@aerialedge.co.uk
Want to perform at Open Rig Night?
To sign up as a performer at Open Rig Night, email info@aerialedge.co.uk. We also run Scratch Nights twice a year, which are still informal but more planning goes into them. These are primarily to prepare students on our full-time circus courses for the ensemble performance before they graduate, but they are also open to other performers when there’s space in the schedule.
Please consider a donation
As a not-for-profit organisation, any donation at all that you are able to make for Aerial Edge’s Sponsored Places scheme will be most welcome. It all adds up to give places in our Youth Circus to people who experience barriers to participation.
Aerial Edge is committed to Circus for All, regardless of age, size, body shape or experience. We know that people develop many aspects of themselves through circus training, not just their skills in circus disciplines. That’s why the Sponsored Places scheme is important. Organisations in the fields of poverty, disability, LGBTQ+ and refugees are partnering with us to identify suitable recipients.
Aerial Edge CIC (Community Interest Company), wishes to support the development and proper remuneration of circus artists so our aim is to extend the Sponsored Places scheme beyond Youth Circus into the adult programme.
Circus is for everyone regardless of age, ability, shape or size
We run recreational classes for all ages and abilities, most of which last 90 minutes, and a range of courses.
The next four-week full-time intensive course begins on Monday 25th September. This one is special because you’ll be taught by guest instructor Cirque du Soleil acrobat Luke Quadrio. You can find out more about him here. For more information about our programme of circus training, see our website.
Please email mark@aerialedge.co.uk if you are interested in the course.
This is a unique opportunity to learn from a master of the acrobatic world. Luke comes to Glasgow fresh from a three-year stint in Las Vegas performing with Cirque du Soliel’s spectacular show Mystere.
The course is designed to give you skills in a broad range of aerial and acrobatic arts, with a focus on creating a solo act in your favourite discipline for a show at the end.
