Flying Trapeze Halloween showing
Fri 1 Nov 2024 8:30 PM - 9:30 PM
Aerial Edge Circus School, G51 2YU
Description
Doors open 8pm | Showtime 8.30pm
Ready, hup! It's time to get your Halloween costumes out and enjoy a night of thrills and hopefully no spills as the Aerial Edge flyers take off and throw their impressive tricks for your enjoyment.
Bring your own bottles so that you can calm your nerves with your favourite tipples, and come in costumes to get into the circus spirit of Halloween!
This fast-paced show stars students from flying trapeze classes and members of the Aerial Edge team, swinging out on the trapeze, doing daring flips, tricks and spins through the air, and being grabbed by the catcher before they hit the mats.
Some of the flyers will be relatively new to this amazing experience, while others will be flying without safety lines and adding extra thrills by doing tricks with the catcher.
This promises to be a spooktacular night of high-level entertainment!
Want to perform in this show?
If you've taken some flying trapeze classes with us before, you're welcome to join the cast, and invite your friends and family to see what you can do. Depending on how many people perform, you'll throw one or two tricks, and it's your choice whether it's in safely lines or out (although you'd need to have trained the trick til you're confident to do it out of lines). There will be catchers, and you'll have the chance to do tricks on the cradle and to return to the bar then platform if you want. You can practice your tricks in any class, and come along to Fly Open Training sessions on Fridays at 7.30pm to collaborate on the show's costumes, music, make-up and running order. It's going to be a blast!
Please consider a donation
As a not-for-profit organisation, any donation at all that you are able to make for Aerial Edge’s Sponsored Places scheme will be most welcome. It all adds up to give places in our Youth Circus to people who experience barriers to participation.
Aerial Edge is committed to Circus for All, regardless of age, size, body shape or experience. We know that people develop many aspects of themselves through circus training, not just their skills in circus disciplines. That’s why the Sponsored Places scheme is important. Organisations in the fields of poverty, disability, LGBTQ+ and refugees are partnering with us to identify suitable recipients.
Aerial Edge CIC (Community Interest Company), wishes to support the development and proper remuneration of circus artists so our aim is to extend the Sponsored Places scheme beyond Youth Circus into the adult programme.
Circus is for everyone regardless of age, ability, shape or size
We run recreational classes for all ages and abilities, most of which last 90 minutes, and a range of courses.
The next four-week full-time intensive course begins on Monday 25th September. This one is special because you’ll be taught by guest instructor Cirque du Soleil acrobat Luke Quadrio. You can find out more about him here. For more information about our programme of circus training, see our website.
Please email mark@aerialedge.co.uk if you are interested in the course.
This is a unique opportunity to learn from a master of the acrobatic world. Luke comes to Glasgow fresh from a three-year stint in Las Vegas performing with Cirque du Soliel’s spectacular show Mystere.
The course is designed to give you skills in a broad range of aerial and acrobatic arts, with a focus on creating a solo act in your favourite discipline for a show at the end.
