How can support services better respond to the cultural needs, priorities and lived experiences of trafficking survivors?
As part of activities to mark AFRUCA's 25th anniversary, we recently launched a book: "Through The Eyes of Survivors: Exploring AFRUCA's 25 Years of Anti-Trafficking Work" which documents the stories of 25 previous service users of AFRUCA. You can purchase a copy of the book on our website at https://afruca.org/through-the-eyes-of-survivors
In continuation of our book engagement series , we are holding our first event: Through the Eyes of Survivors: From Stories to Action on Wednesday 18 November 2026. This online event will explore what it means to have a culturally responsive, inclusive and survivor-centred approach to supporting people affected by human trafficking and exploitation.
Bringing together practitioners, researchers, survivor advocates and other professionals, the event will examine the barriers survivors may face when accessing support and identify practical ways to strengthen service delivery, improve safeguarding and promote long-term recovery.
Join us for an engaging conversation on how survivor experiences can inform better practice, influence policy and help ensure support services respond to individual needs with kindness, empathy, dignity, understanding and compassion - which are the hallmarks of the culturally responsive services we provide at AFRUCA.
We recommend participants read the AFRUCA book: "Through the Eyes of Survivors" to facilitate an informed, inclusive and interactive session. Buy a copy of the book here - https://afruca.org/through-the-eyes-of-survivors
