Join us for the second workshop activating A Garden this summer - a physical theater circus workshop! Sarah-Jane Moody of Wise Fool New Mexico will guide us in a physical comedy exploration of the garden, finding ways to get to know the plants on the site through humorous and joyful movement. The workshop will consist of a series of physical theater games inviting participants to orient towards themselves, each other, and the garden with laughter and openness.
The garden is located on the north side of the museum at Mountain Road and 20th St NW.
Sarah-Jane Moody has been working with Wise Fool as their main theatrical red nose clown coach 25 years. She has performed and taught around the world, and has a degree in physical theater from Dell’Arte international in Blue Lake, CA.
Accessibility: The garden site is only accessible through a stretch of grass, and its paths are made of fine gravel. The site is also right off the street and loud noises can occur suddenly if loud cars or trucks pass by. The workshop will be largely movement based but the activities can be adapted for folks with mobility impairments. For any accessibility needs or concerns, please reach out to eedreva@unm.edu.
Note: There will be no open restrooms onsite as the event is taking place after museum hours, but event participants can use the restrooms at the nearby Sawmill Market, located at 19th St and Bellamah Ave.
The workshop will be capped at 15 people.
