If Agatha Christie had never written another word after The Murder of Roger Ackroyd she would still be remembered and admired today. John Curran discusses her masterpiece and shows how she achieved her shattering final chapter surprise - without cheating.

Dr John Curran is the author of Agatha Christie’s Secret Notebooks (2009) and Agatha Christie’s Murder in the Making (2011), both later collected as Agatha Christie’s Complete Secret Notebooks (2016). He wrote the official history of Collins Crime Club, The Hooded Gunman in 2019 and last year published The Murder Game: Play, Puzzles and the Golden Age.
