Run to Beat the Boat

Are you over the age of 50 and fancy a new challenge?  Be part of the very first Beat the Boat running race along the River Ouse.

As the City Cruises boat sets sail from Kings Staith, runners will then begin the 2.7km race at the sound of the horn as the boat passes Tower Gardens. The route will then lead to Millennium Bridge, returning at the other side of the river and finishing at Terry Avenue.  

This is a wonderful opportunity to take part in an event that sees the winner take first place using an age percentage calculator rather than the first to cross the finish line! You can go at whatever pace you choose. An opportunity to enjoy the pretty riverside scenery too.

This event is part of the York 50+ Festival and is raising vital funds for Age UK York.  

When your place is booked, you will be contacted by the organiser via email to establish additional information.  You will need to supply your age, any medical issues and an emergency contact.  Photography and filming will be taking place at the event.  Please see T&Cs below.

Terms and Conditions

• Participants must be age 50 or over
• Filming and photography will be carried out during the event
• No dogs permitted for the run - this is due to safety reasons
• Runners take part at their own risk.  
• Unfortunately, we are unable to issue refunds in the event of participants being unable to run on the day of the event
