Frequently Asked Questions
When can I take the exam?
You can take the exam as soon as the class is over. Scrum Alliance gives you up to 90 days after completing the course to take your first exam attempt.
Is the exam open book?
Yes. The exam is open book and is not proctored, so you can use your notes and Scrum resources while taking it.
If I don't pass, is there a waiting period before I can retake it?
No. If you don't pass on your first attempt, you can retake the exam immediately.
How difficult is the exam?
On a scale of 1–10, Miljan rates it about a 5. You need at least 37 correct answers out of 50 (74%) to pass. If you actively participate and review the materials, you should do very well.
Do I need to renew my certification?
Yes, if you want to keep it active. The certification is valid for two years. You can renew by taking another Scrum Alliance course or by paying the current renewal fee and logging the required Scrum Education Units (SEUs).
Do I have to take the exam again when I renew?
No. Once you pass the exam, you do not need to take it again. Renewal only requires meeting Scrum Alliance's current renewal requirements.
Can I retake the exam to get a higher score?
No. Once you pass, you cannot retake it to improve your score. Your score does not appear on your certification.
How do I set up my Scrum Alliance account?
On the last day of class, you will receive an email from Scrum Alliance with setup instructions. Once your account is active, the exam link will appear on your dashboard.
Are all exam questions multiple choice?
Yes. All 50 questions are multiple choice.
Will I know which questions I got wrong?
Yes. After completing the exam, you will receive feedback showing which questions you answered incorrectly.
What is included in the one-year 1:1 coaching?
You can get help with your resume or LinkedIn profile, interview preparation, career direction, or real challenges you face in your role.
Can I retake the class or change my class date?
Yes. You may repeat the full live course once within 12 months at no additional tuition cost. You may also move to another available class without a change fee when you contact Miljan before your scheduled class begins.
