Tjeerd will be speaking about the Turret Clocks of the Royal Residencies, specifically the Collection of Turret clocks and dials by the Vulliamy family of Clockmakers. Often the Royal Turret Clocks have been individually researched; never has anyone provided the complete history on these pieces as part of a collection.

In this lecture Tjeerd will endeavour to change this and provide a history of the Royal Turret Clocks and Dials that were made by the Vulliamy family of Clockmakers.

Tjeerd trained at Vakschool Schoonhoven, the Dutch School for Horology and then West Dean College in the UK. After graduating in 2010 he was offered the position of Conservator in The Rijksmuseum Boerhaave, which is the national museum for the History of Science in Leiden, The Netherlands. There he was responsible for the Scientific and Horological collection including pieces made by Salomon Coster, Isaac Thuret and Christian Huygens.

Since 2014 Tjeerd has been employed within the Royal Collection Trust, the art section of the Royal Household, based in Buckingham Palace, where he cared as part of a team for the clocks in the Royal Residences. As of 2019, Tjeerd has held the post of Senior Horological Conservator and is responsible for the care of all horological items in the Royal Collection ranging from: pocket watches, music boxes, table clocks all the way up to the turret clocks that are housed in these Royal Residences throughout the UK.
