Microbiology Club — Explore the Hidden World of Water!

STEM is Child’s Play's Microbiology Club is a hands‑on weekly science program where students and community members dive into the invisible world of microbes and discover how they shape our water, environment, and daily lives.

Microbiologists study bacteria, algae, fungi, protozoa, and other tiny organisms that keep ecosystems running. They track pollution, protect public health, improve agriculture, and help solve real‑world environmental challenges. In this club, participants get to step into that role — learning real lab skills while exploring the science happening all around us.

What We Do in the Club

Members will take part in engaging, curiosity‑driven projects such as:

• Water Quality Detectives: Collect and analyze local water samples under microscopes.
• Microbe Art: Grow safe, colorful bacterial colonies to create living artwork.
• Eco‑Filter Engineering: Build natural water filters using sand, charcoal, and plants.
• Soil vs. Hydroponics Microbes: Compare microbial life in different growing systems.
• Biofilm Builders: Observe how microbes form protective layers — and test ways to remove them.
• Microplastic Hunters: Investigate how microplastics affect microorganisms in water.
• Community Data Project: Track water health over time and contribute to local environmental awareness.
