Motern Media Movie Marathon

Never before screened in New Zealand!

We are so excited to present the first NZ Motern Media marathon.  Motern is a celebration of creativity and community and lo-fi horror comedy genius. Matt Farley, the heart of Motern, has made over a dozen feature films over the last two decades -- each made with little budget and using mostly his friends and family as the actors, and his New England home as a location. While humble in method, they are made with a whole lotta heart and art.  The result is a universe of incredible films that, while low budget and proudly camp, are oddly alluring and affecting. You will grow to love the Motern repertory of players and the wholesome, yet punk, shaggy rhythms of the films. They are undoubtedly works of art that are also a heck of a lot of fun.  You'll see nothing else like it this year, and now Newtown is proud to host a day showing you some of Motern's best!

The Newtown Community Centre is an accessible venue with all-gender bathrooms, a range of seating and even a kitchen if you want to microwave some kai to eat during the movies. There will also be a coffee milk station!
