Join us for an engaging workshop designed for teens ages 14+ to build practical social and emotional skills for navigating school, relationships, stress, and everyday life. Participants will learn how to overcome these obstacles through various activities, discussions and solutions that Islam teaches.
Topics covered:
- Building emotional literacy
- Learning healthy coping skills
- Identifying unhealthy coping skills
- Increasing self-worth
- The dangers of perfectionism
- Academic burnout
Activities:
- Mapping physical warning signs and identifying personal emotional triggers
- Creating a customized "Emergency Reset" card for challenging days
- Roleplaying real-life, high-stress scenarios using de-escalation frameworks
- Creating a personal mental health playbook
Ages: 14+
Meet the Speakers:
Maheen Khan is a clinical intern currently completing her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Alberta and is further specializing her clinical lens by pursuing a Diploma in Islamic Psychology through Usūl Academy/Khalil Center.
Tehreem Hussain is a native to the chicago land area having grown up in Lombard and attending Islamic Foundation School.
She is now a Marriage and Family Therapy intern currently completing her master's degree. She is passionate about helping individuals, couples, and families navigate life's challenges while building stronger, healthier relationships.
