SPEND TIME WELL: A WORKSHOP

Sun Aug 16, 2026 4:00 PM - 5:30 PM EDT Online, Zoom

When was the last time you felt like you were spending time well—not getting things done, but doing the right things, and doing them right?

Spending time well isn’t about discipline. It’s about direction.

We’re told that productivity is everything.

We’re deluged with hacks, about how to pack more in and get more out of the 24 hours in a day.

But what we really need is clarity about what to spend our time on.

If you’re wondering:

  • Why does managing my time feel impossible?
  • Why does hacking productivity taste like cheap sugar?
  • Why am I getting things done, but still not doing them right?
  • How do I spend my time on what matters?

You're in the right place.

About the workshop

A live, 90-minute virtual hands-on session for people who want to stop measuring and to start identifying what matters. Small group, by design, limited to 18 participants.

What you’ll get:

  • A clear picture of how you’re currently spending your time and where you’re going off course.
  • A statement about what matters to you, which you can use to determine what you do and how you do it.
  • A practice to start doing things in line with your conviction (and to stop doing things that are not).

Who is this workshop for?

This workshop is designed for busy, capable, successful people who find themselves in the middle of work and life, yet somehow still feel off course.

It's perfect if you want to step back from the grind, get clear on what actually matters, and start doing things according to you instead of others.

What we'll do in the workshop:

  • Identify the problem. We'll figure out what it actually means to spend your time well, not just getting things done, but doing them right. We'll take an inventory to see when that's happening and when it's not.
  • Explore a solution. We'll set aside the hacks and the COWS (could, ought, would, should) and instead identify a north star, something that matters to you that you can steer by. We need light to steer by if we're going to spend our time on what matters.
  • Make a commitment. You'll design and commit to a tiny experiment: one thing to stop doing that isn't aligned with your north star, and one thing to start that might be.

About your teacher

Angus Lockyer - writer | teacher | coach

Angus is a recovering academic who taught thousands of undergraduate, graduate, and adult students in over twenty courses at three universities in California, North Carolina, and London, before realizing there was more to life than footnotes and grades. While still in the industry, he redesigned old programmes, built new ones, and helped colleagues teach students how to learn rather than how to pass the test.

Since leaving it, he has worked with individual clients, small groups, and little companies to make space and focus on what matters. He has coached for Akimbo, launched the anti.mba, written two books, made a podcast, and moved house four times in seven years. He now lives on the East Coast, runs on the beach, and keeps out of mischief by making a polite ruckus at the Rhode Island School of Design.

What people say about working with Angus:

  • "I thought I needed to 'try harder' with time management. You helped me see that avoiding things wasn’t the problem — it was pointing me toward what needed to fundamentally change in my work." — Tamara K.
  • "You helped me put more air into the soufflé that is my life." — Inga V.

By the end, you'll leave with:

  • A clear map of exactly when and how you go off course, so you can catch it before a whole week disappears into the wrong things.
  • A one-sentence statement of what spending time well means for you, specific enough to use as a filter for your next decision, not a vague value to nod at.
  • One committed experiment for the week ahead, with a stop and a start, so you leave with something to do differently tomorrow morning, not just something to think about.

It’s easy to spend time wrong, and it doesn’t seem to matter too much at the time. But it adds up over time, and you don't get it back. That's the reality this workshop helps you see clearly and take intentional control of.

FAQ

Will there be a recording?
There will not be a recording shared after the workshop. This session is about real-time reflection and participation. Participants will receive follow-up resources to support their work.

Do I have to attend live?
Yes, Spend Time Well requires you to attend live on Zoom and participate. The workshop is designed to help you get clarity and commit to an experiment in real time, right now, not later.

I already know I'm off course. Is this for me?
Yes, this workshop is built for exactly that. You don't need to have it figured out first. If you're looking for a clear direction, a chance to name what matters, or simply space to think alongside others doing the same, you're welcome to join.

What does the workshop cost?
Early Bird: $97 through Sunday, August 9th | Full Price: $147

Do you offer refunds?
Participants can request a refund until one week before the start of the workshop. This is to respect the limited capacity of the session and to ensure that if someone isn't able to attend, we can offer that spot to someone else.

How many people will be in the workshop?
Spend Time Well is capped at 18 participants. Small by design, so there's real space for reflection, honest discussion, and enough room for everyone's direction to get worked on.
