Workshop Overview: Cognitive Behavioral Play Therapy (CBPT) is valuable in treating childhood trauma. The basic tenets of CBPT will be presented. Using CBPT in therapy and linking CBPT to core components of trauma treatment will be provided. Clinical examples will be included.
Learning Objectives: After the workshop, participants will be able to
1. Identify the basic tenets of Cognitive Behavioral Play Therapy (CBPT)
2. Describe the clinical application of CBPT from a trauma-informed lens
3. Possess and link specific CBPT interventions with core components of trauma treatment
4. Describe how CBPT therapeutic responding is used in posttraumatic play in clinical practice with young children who have been abused and traumatized
