Ever Land Supper Club for Palestine

Alba is hosting another fundraising feast for Palestine!

Following Alba's sell-out supper club with Sami Tamimi earlier this year, we are delighted to team up with debut author Amy Abdelnoor to host another charity dinner within the Whitechapel Gallery... this time with a literary twist!

Join us on Friday 24 July to hear Amy talk about her acclaimed debut novel, Ever Land, hailed by Guardian journalist and activist Owen Jones as ‘an astonishingly compelling novel … full of moral grace’.

Expect an evening of delicious Palestinian-inspired dishes, with flavours and tastes evoking the atmosphere of Amy’s storytelling. Head Chef Kherunnisa Mulla has created a feast of shared table dishes, with specially designed recipes inspired by the ingredients and dishes referenced in the book. It will also be a chance to hear about the writing of Ever Land, the journey to publication and the stories which inspired the book.

There will be plenty of time for questions and to chat informally to Amy over the course of the evening. A representative from Brick Lane Bookshop will be present to sell copies of Ever Land, if you would like to get them signed by the author.

We are delighted to host this supper club as a fundraiser, with £10 from every ticket going to The Hanoon Foundation, a UK-registered charity which supports medical education in Palestine in order to train a new generation of doctors.  Named after the Palestinian poppy flower, the charity works on the ground to support the future of healthcare in Palestine, rather than simply providing aid today.

About Amy Abdelnoor:

Amy Abdelnoor is a British Arab author, writer and teacher; her maternal grandfather was Lebanese. She studied English and Arabic at the University of Cambridge. She lived and worked in the West Bank and in refugee camps in Lebanon in her early twenties, experiences that
inspired Ever Land, her debut novel, an early iteration of which was shortlisted for the 2023 Lucy Cavendish Fiction Prize.
She speaks Arabic, French and Italian (to various degrees of competence) and is married with three children.
