109 Practical Philosophy: Mind Massaging Discussions

This course is an extended argument against the view that philosophy cannot be practical or applied. Each class offers a facilitated discussion around practical philosophical questions. Eg, is science true? is art from unethical people to be admired? should we accept, reject, enforce, ban euthanasia, vegetarianism, abortion?

Curiosity, wonder and reflection are essential. Active participation in discussions is encouraged. In the words of one past participant, the experience can be “like a mind massage.” Those who are open to the discussion are likely to experience changes in mind, heart, and behaviour.
