415: Introduction to Eco Printing & Botanical Dyeing

Penny Jewell will teach the techniques needed to obtain clear botanical images from local plants onto fabric and paper.

Students will learn how to introduce background colour to their prints, exploring the interaction of mordants and tannins. They will mostly work with protein fabrics (silk, wool etc). Students don’t need prior experience to do this class, beginners are welcome, but we do advise that if you want to enrol in the advanced eco print class using cellulose fabrics you should do this class first.
