NEW! Our first Print Club event! 

Through the summer Print Club will take place on the second Thursday of each month, running from April - August (Please note we will be running Print Club on the 1st Thursday in September). 

The event is intended for adults and limited to 8 participants. 

What is print club all about?

Each month we take a different style of printmaking and have a play with it in a relaxed social atmosphere. You don’t need to be able to draw or have any previous printmaking experience to come along and try some of the different printmaking techniques we will be trying out. In each two hour session we will have a quick demo of that month's printmaking technique and then it’s over to you to have a go while you relax and chat.

Printmaker Lisa Benson will be taking the sessions with a little help from some of the other printmakers from the studio. Lisa has a curiosity for all things print and loves sharing the magical process that is printmaking, she can’t wait to get stuck in with Print Club! 

What do you need to know?

• Each session will run from 7pm - 9pm on the second Thursday of the month (please note it will run on the 1st Thursday in September). 

• The studio doors will open at 6.45pm to give you time to pop into East Quay kitchen and get yourself a drink or you can have complimentary tea / coffee in the studio.

• We are asking for you to pre book each session so that we know you will have space to make your prints. If a session is fully booked please add your name and details to the waiting list so we can contact you if there is a cancellation. 

• Each session is £12 per person (£10 for Albatross Print Studio members) and that covers all of your materials for each session. 

• We will be working on small prints, around A6 in size. This helps make the process a little quicker and you should leave each session with at least one print.

• Printmaking can be a messy business. We recommend old clothes and an apron as we will be getting inky.

So what do we have planned?

10th April - foil collagraphs

8th May - drypoint from packaging

12th June - plant monoprints

10th July - Printing found objects

14th August - Blind embossing

4th September - Tetra Pak printing

Accessibility: 

It is worth mentioning that we have high work surfaces in the print studio and the chairs that we have are the bar stool type so they are quite tall. Most people stand to print but if you need to sit please be aware that we do not have standard tables and chairs. Please get in touch if you need more information regarding access.

Please note:

Clothing: We will be working with inks that do not easily wash out of clothing. Wear old clothes and bring an apron/old shirt etc. as cover-up. Avoid loose, dangly sleeves, which can be a safety hazard.

Food and drinks: East Quay Kitchen will be open serving food from 6pm if you would like to eat before print club. Or pick up a drink from the bar and bring it in. You are welcome to bring your own drinks and snacks to eat in the studio. Tea and coffee will be provided.

Parking: There is no on-site parking for visitors to East Quay. Harbour Road pay and display car park is convenient and free from 6pm.

If you have to cancel:

Please let us know as early as possible if you are unable to attend.

The following charges will apply dependent on notice given:

• More than 4 weeks prior to course: A full refund will be given.

• 1-4 weeks prior to course: 50% of course fee will be retained by Albatross Print Studio

• Less than 7 days’ notice: 100% of course fee will be retained by Albatross Print Studio

• If you do not attend a course and have not previously informed us, 100% of the fee will be retained by Albatross Print Studio.

IF WE HAVE TO CANCEL:

We will keep you informed if there is any threat of a course not running or if there are not enough participants to make it viable. We will cancel at short notice only in the case of an emergency, such as illness of the tutors or extreme weather affecting access to and use of the building. We will do our best to give participants at least one weeks’ notice of cancellation. If we have to cancel a course 100% of course fees will be refunded.
