DATE: Wednesday 23rd August
TIME: 10 - 4pm
LOCATION: Albatross Print Studio
TUTOR: Lisa Benson and Sarah Ward
COST: £70 (Members price £63)
A one day workshop introducing you to intaglio printmaking. Dry point is the most direct form of intaglio printmaking, allowing you to scribe, or draw, directly onto the plate which enables you to reproduce your design many times. We will experiment with creating plates on different surfaces – card and acrylic sheets.
You will be taught the inking up process and how to pull a print using the studio’s etching press. You will also have the opportunity to add coloured layers and create textures and shading in your prints.
Suitable for complete beginners as well as those who have already done other workshops and want to develop further skills. Please bring found images, sketches or ideas you would like to work with. Sample images will also be available.
Clothing: We will be working with inks that do not easily wash out of clothing. Wear old clothes and bring an apron/old shirt etc. as cover-up. Avoid loose, dangly sleeves, which can be a safety hazard.
Food and drinks: East Quay Kitchen offers a delicious menu that caters for most dietary preferences, but you are welcome to bring your own lunch and snacks to eat in the studio or the courtyard. Tea and coffee will be provided.
Parking: There is no on-site parking for visitors to East Quay. Harbour Road pay and display car park is convenient but costly. There is unrestricted parking along Doniford Road, and other residential streets off that, a very short walk to East Quay via Goviers Lane.
