Photo Etching 1 day Workshop

In this one day workshop you will learn how to make an etching using your own photograph as source material. Participants will be guided through the process of exposing an aluminium plate using a black and white, laser-printed acetate, cleaning and etching the plate, inking the plate and finally printing it using oil-based inks. All materials for the day will be provided, however you will need to bring your prepared photograph on acetate. Once you have enrolled on the course you will be sent more precise instruction regarding making the acetate,

The course is suitable for both experienced printmakers who would like to extend their practice as well as beginners looking for a new and exciting process.

This course is intended for adults and limited to 6 participants. Booking is essential.

Please note:

Clothing: We will be working with inks that do not easily wash out of clothing. Wear old clothes and bring an apron/old shirt etc. as cover-up. Avoid loose, dangly sleeves, which can be a safety hazard.

Food and drinks: East Quay Kitchen offers a delicious menu that caters for most dietary preferences, but you are welcome to bring your own lunch and snacks to eat in the studio or the courtyard. Tea and coffee will be provided.

Parking: There is no on-site parking for visitors to East Quay. Harbour Road pay and display car park is convenient but costly. There is unrestricted parking along Doniford Road, and other residential streets off of that, a very short walk to East Quay via Goviers Lane.

If you have to cancel:

Please let us know as early as possible if you are unable to attend.

The following charges will apply dependent on notice given:

• More than 4 weeks prior to course: A full refund will be given.

• 1-4 weeks prior to course: 50% of course fee will be retained by Albatross Print Studio

• Less than 7 days’ notice: 100% of course fee will be retained by Albatross Print Studio

• If you do not attend a course and have not previously informed us, 100% of the fee will be retained by Albatross Print Studio.

IF WE HAVE TO CANCEL:

We will keep you informed if there is any threat of a course not running or if there are not enough participants to make it viable. We will cancel at short notice only in the case of an emergency, such as illness of the tutors or extreme weather affecting access to and use of the building. We will do our best to give participants at least one weeks’ notice of cancellation. If we have to cancel a course 100% of course fees will be refunded.
