Alberta Winds presents: IN THE BEGINNING

Gareth Jones and the players of the Alberta Winds return to the stage in a program of music that depicts a spark: of memory, of life, of the creation of the world itself. How can we witness the strange and powerful events of...THE BEGINNING?

This concert will feature a rare performance of David GILLINGHAM's Symphony #2 ("Genesis").

In addition, we will give Calgary's first performance of "the mountains rend themselves apart," (title intentionally written in lower case) by Alberta based composer, Mari Alice Conrad, exploring the colossal power behind the tragic Frank Slide. Canadian composer Chris Byman's "Autumn Down A Maple Lane" is a gentle reminder of the power of memory, and Stephen Melillo's "Stormworks" uses the metaphor of a storm to consider how to face the storm of life.

Don't miss this evening of musical power, virtuosity, and raw emotion.
