The is first time both Fragments of a Dream and Knife's Edge are shown in Manchester.

::: Despite the violence and stigma of its past conflict, right where the Amazonas region of Colombia begins, a group of former guerrilla members sees in nature the opportunity to change the destiny of an entire nation. Here, military forces and FARC (Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia) disputed the territory in a bloody war that lasted half a century. However, following a landmark peace accord in 2016, this place is now poised to become a tourist destination. Knife's Edge explores how Ex-combatants, local communities, and professionals from other areas of the country are now collaborating to build a sustainable model that combines adventure, collective memory, and responsible use of natural resources.

::: Fragments of a Dream journeys to the festival to spend time with the artists, activists and speakers, such as Jeremy Corbyn, who have taken inspiration from a faraway place and come together to celebrate their quest for a better world for all peoples and animals. The roots of their inspiration come from Victor Jara, a visionary musician and theatre director who was part of the New Song movement in Salvador Allende’s Chile. Jara was murdered by the Pinochet dictatorship that violently overthrew Allende in a September 1973 coup.

::: Introduced by the government of Salvador Allende, president of Chile from 1970 to 1973, The People’s Train of Culture initiative aimed to bring culture closer to those who had no access to it. The initiative wanted to create a National Institute of Arts and Culture and colleges of art in all the country’s provinces. The film looks to establish links with aspects of the educational and cultural initiatives of Spain’s Second Republic, such as the Pedagogic Missions, the Theatre of the People and the Theatre of La Barraca.
