Public education is not just a service. It is a fundamental human right and one of the most powerful tools we have to fight poverty and inequality. And right now, it is under threat. Australia is a wealthy country that continues to underfund its public schools, widen the gap between public and private education, and leave regional and remote communities behind. Postcode still predicts destiny. This talk examines the importance of public education as a human right, where Australia stands today, and what we must do to save it before it is too late. **About the Speaker** Aleta has held senior management roles across the United Nations and a range of domestic and international human rights and economic development initiatives, and is the author of seven books and a regular contributor to outlets including The Conversation and Michael West Media. She has been recognised with a number of prestigious awards, including a peace award, and is an independent candidate for Western Victoria.
