Sketching birds outside is one of the fastest ways to improve your sketching skills - trust me! Having the confidence to draw something moving before it flies away really frees you up and enhances your observational skills. In this nature journaling day, I will reveal the anatomy of different birds, helping you to understand how to draw the basics quickly. We will then practice the skills with real birds! This class is suitable for all, including total beginners.
10:00 – 12:30: Bird anatomy at Umborne Bridge Studio. Learn the basics of drawing birds, understanding how birds are built, how they move and how to sketch them quickly and with confidence.
12:30 – 1:30: Lunch break and travel to Seaton Wetlands. Bring a packed lunch. Your own transport will be required, plenty of free car parking at Seaton Wetlands.
1:30 – 4:00: Bird sketching at Seaton Wetlands. We will sketch from Island Hide, the pond and/or the benches. Use your new skills out in the field! Guidance will be given. There are toilets available on site and the areas we are walking to are easily accessible.
A bird sketching guide and A5 Seawhite sketchbook will be provided. Please bring binoculars or a scope if you have them. I have a few spares but not enough for the whole group!
