Foxes, badgers, deer, rabbits, hedgehogs, and rodents. In this beginner-friendly wildlife drawing day, you will learn the skills you need to confidently draw British wildlife from scratch using coloured pencils. We will begin with some drawing exercises to get you used to quickly identifying basic shapes in the subject. We will then look at how to capture different types of textures in coloured pencil (i.e., fox fur, rabbit fur, deer hide, hedgehog spines). After lunch, you will bring together all you have learned with a small wildlife portrait in coloured pencil.
10:00 – 11:15: Drawing wildlife exercises, getting used to finding shapes and sketching a large range of different wildlife subjects
11:15 - 12:30: Using coloured pencil. Practice exercises based on different fur and hide textures found in our wildlife.
12:30 – 1:15: Lunch break
1:15 – 4:00:Your wildlife portrait. Using your own image or something from my selection, you will do a small (A6 or A5) coloured pencil portrait of your chosen wildlife subject. Individualised help will be given.
Please do bring your own photos or magazine clippings of British wildlife if you have something you would particularly like to draw for your wildlife portrait. I will have a large selection available at the studio as well. All materials will be included.
