Workshop for Composers and Orchestrators: How we created the music for Around the World in 80 Days.

In this workshop, Tom will talk through how he approached creating the music for Around the World in 80 Days, looking at the specific limitations created by Actor-Muso shows, and how to write for them ambitiously. Suitable for aspiring and emerging Composers and Orchestrators with an interest in providing complex, exciting music for Actor-Muso theatre.

Thomas F. Arnold (He/Him)

Tom is an Offie Award-Nominated Musical Director, Orchestrator, Composer and Writer. He is also an unhealthily obsessive fan of the 2004 movie adaptation of Around the World In 80 Days starring Steve Coogan and Jackie Chan.

As a Musical Director and Orchestrator: The Musical Medea (Upstairs at the Gatehouse, 2025), Jack and the Beanstalk (Lichfield Garrick, 2024), A Song of Songs (Finsbury Park Theatre, 2024), Beauty and the Beast (Lichfield Garrick, 2023), My Fair Lady (Frinton Summer Theatre, 2023), Robin Hood (Exeter Northcott, 2022).

Tom is also the resident Musical Director of The Crazy Coqs Presents and Mickey Jo Theatre Live!. He is the Musical Director on the Musical Theatre performance course at the University of Winchester.
