Discover the Art of Wildlife Photography - Winter Magic at Bempton Cliffs

Fancy nailing those sharp, in-focus flight shots? Join me for a winter workshop at RSPB Bempton Cliffs, where we’ll spend the day learning how to capture the birds who call these cliffs home even through the colder months.

We’ll kick things off in the warm and cosy Nestbox with a cuppa and a biscuit (or two), where I’ll talk you through camera settings, autofocus tracking, and the techniques that make all the difference when you’re trying to freeze a bird in mid-air. No question is too daft — this is a relaxed, friendly session and I want everyone to leave feeling more confident.

Once we’ve covered the theory, we’ll head out onto the cliffs to put it all into practice, tracking whatever winter visitors we can find, from your small birds to owls and even the chance of a bottlenose dolphin or two and get working on getting those crisp, well-composed shots.

What to expect:

• 9.30am–4.30pm
• Classroom-style learning in the warm Nestbox with tea/coffee and biscuits
• Hands-on flight photography out on the cliffs
• Small group, friendly and relaxed atmosphere
• Suitable for all skill levels — bring your camera and manual if you’re not sure of your settings

What to bring:

• Camera + telephoto lens if you have one
• Warm, weatherproof clothing (it’s Bempton in winter — layers are your friend!)
• Sturdy footwear
• A flask or refillable bottle for out on the cliffs
