Free writing for children workshop with award-winning author Maisie Chan

Description
This two-hour workshop, presented by award-winning author Maisie Chan, will give you a great grounding in the basics of writing for children. The session will cover everything from choosing your readership and concept to developing plot and characterisation, with time for questions. Participants will also get the chance to join a writing group after the workshop, offering further support and an all-important writing community.
Workshop organiser All Stories offers free development opportunities to talented writers from underrepresented backgrounds. The 2024 programme includes writing workshops and writing groups. To register, you must be over 18, reside in the UK and from an underrepresented group. This is defined as those who identify as a person of colour, LGBTQ+, disabled, neurodiverse, working class or socio-economically disadvantaged.
This is a free event but places are limited. If you are unable to attend please contact us as soon as possible so that your place can be offered to someone on the waiting list.
Meet your workshop host: Maisie Chan
Maisie Chan is children's author whose debut novel DANNY CHUNG DOES NOT DO MATHS won the Jhalak Prize and the Branford Boase Award in 2022. Her latest novel KEEP DANCING, LIZZIE CHU is out now with Piccadilly Press and is longlisted for the Diverse Book Awards 2023. She also writes the series TIGER WARRIOR. She has written early readers for Hachette and Big Cat Collins, and has a collection of myths and legends out with Scholastic. She runs the Bubble Tea Writers Network to support and encourage writers of East and Southeast Asian (ESEA) descent in the U.K. She has a dog called Miko who has big eyes. She lives in Glasgow with her family.
