Bike Waffle - Richy Poynter
We're starting the new year with a riveting Bike Waffle with Richy Poynter who completed one of the most challenging events out there, L'Esperit de Girona.
The L’Esperit de Girona is a gruelling, multi-day ultra-endurance bikepacking event that, to date, only 8 people have ever finished.
Spanning 730 kilometres with over 23,000 metres of elevation gain, it pushes riders to navigate remote off-road paths, hike-a-bike sections, steep climbs, and high altitudes while carrying their gear and resupplying along the way. With no official support and a high drop-out rate, this event tests physical stamina, mental resilience, and the ability to endure long distances. Simply finishing is a victory.
So what convinced Richy to quietly sign up for this event?
Why did he only tell a few close friends?
And, how much did he have to draw on his experience of being a Marine to drag himself to the finish?
Get a taster of the evening in this article Richy wrote about the event for Bikepacking.com.
We're returning to The Square Club, for an evening of discovery and inspiration. Feel free to arrive from 6.30pm to grab a cosy sofa and get settled with a drink before we start at 7pm!
