Annual Benefit Dinner: Knowledge to Impact: Building a Legacy of Prophetic Light

Assalamu ʿAlaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh,

We are honored to invite you to Al-Maqasid's Annual Benefit Dinner, an evening of remembrance, reflection, and gratitude. We also look forward to hosting our distinguished guests, Ustadh UbaydAllah Evans and renowned artist Isam Bachiri.

Allah ﷻ tells us in the Quran, "Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth. His light is like a niche in which there is a lamp, the lamp is in a crystal, the crystal is like a shining star, lit from ˹the oil of˺ a blessed olive tree, ˹located˺ neither to the east nor the west, whose oil almost gives off light, even without being touched by fire. Light upon light! Allah guides whoever He wills to His light." [Quran 24:35]

Our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, also teaches us of the relationship between light and knowledge. He said, "Truly, the superiority of the scholar over the devout worshipper is like the superiority of [the light of] the full moon over the other constellations." [Ahmad, Tirmidhi]
