Suffrajitsu
Thursday 23rd November @ 7.30pm
What happens when two women walk into a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu gym for two very different reasons?
Meet Polly, a spray tanner who is trying to encourage Jade to get a tan, whilst Jade wants Polly to stop talking and just roll on the mat.
A battle between two women in the modern world. Both justifying their ways of empowering others, through spray tanning and fighting.
Suffrajitsu is a punchy and powerful kick back against the patriarchy. Hear stories of loss, sexism, and why we are still fighting for our rights, just like the Suffragettes did!
Audience responses
‘Real charm and heart, engagingly performed’
‘Honest, raw and unapologetic’
The Company
Back-to-Back Theatre is a brand-new company, comprised of Polly Ferguson-Carruthers and Jade Campbell. We are passionate about making work that empowers & amplifies voices in communities. We thrive to create spaces for people to reflect on their own experiences of living in the modern world through theatre.
We are both working mums from working class backgrounds, brought up in areas that theatre was not inclusive for all. We are passionate about the arts & know how important it is for the industry to hear new stories in theatre. All of our work & creative processes includes community co-creation through workshops & is for all ages & demographics.
