Your soft clay is put in an oven to cook and harden. It either splits, cracks, breaks… or it holds. Is it up to you to decide if it’s to break or if it’s to hold?

Devised by Bitterroot, If It’s to Break is a dark, atmospheric exploration into the self-reflective nature of art. Chris Richards’ original composition scores the challenges of finding contentment beneath the pressures of self-improvement as the piece twists further into the insanity of the human mind.

About the company:

“A bitterroot is a small, regenerative flower. Despite their bitter taste, the roots have healing properties believed to heal the heart”

Born of a budding friendship, Bitterroot is the creative partnership of Chris Richards and Jake Rayner Blair. This is their debut production and preliminary devising works for their follow-up piece are already underway.
