To Watch a Man Eat
‘To Watch a Man Eat’ is a play about appetite; in a world precariously balanced by excess at the top and slim-pickings at the bottom, when it comes to those who satisfy their deepest ambitions, or those who preserve personal values, who is truly starved?'
To Watch a Man Eat follows an investment banker and a firefighter, two blokes living worlds apart within our capitalistic society. Their career choices seem to define their lives, each of them choked by their respective white and blue collars. In a world where ambition and personal values persistently butt heads, who will come out on top?
These guys at Full Frontal Theatre recognise that life is short and we're all fucked. We’ve been trapped indoors, we’ve got no money, the economy is doomed and so is the planet… nothing good seems to be sticking around for more than a minute - so we want action and we want it now! Theatre that packs a punch, sticks you in the thick of it and puts some sensation back into your bones. We’re fed up with being the generation on the back bench. We want to feel like we're living! To Watch a Man Eat explores the modern thirst for success, stability and masculine prowess. What does it mean to be a man…to be a person…in a world that upholds the ideals of the corporate drone? Our story follows Firefighter Micky, tycoon Andrew and vindictive Melissa. What makes them tick? What can satisfy them? Sex, Money, Trifle?
