Description
Jack, a troubled psychologist, finds himself drawn to his client, Ava, over the course of their therapy sessions. In his own therapy with Tara, he attempts to explore these feelings but falters – resulting in a breakdown in the very safeguards surrounding therapy. This gripping narrative delves into relationships, boundaries and the repercussions of our actions.
Told through duologues between the four characters, Stable is a modern cautionary tale. The play is a journey through the slow and dangerous collapse of a therapist’s internal compass leading to devastating consequences. It poses the questions: How does power operate in the therapy room? Can our ‘humanness’ always be excused in this modern world? And is the misuse of power ever forgivable?
"Insightful. Authentic. Cerebral" (Audience feedback)
"Powerful. Disturbing. Gripping" (Audience feedback)
"Stable has a powerful parting shot, highlighting the tightrope that therapists must walk and the chaos that can ensue if they get it wrong"(Paul Gainey, B24/7)
