Running with Scissors by Ronnie Conboy
8pm Saturday | 5.30pm Sunday
Lesser known true tales of the women who made medical history is brought vividly to life by storyteller and former orthopaedic surgeon, Ronnie Conboy.
Women have been shaping the cutting edge of medicine for hundreds of years. Running with Scissors is an unvarnished look at the brave, the bold, and the beautifully radical.
Meet the cross-dressers who defied the law, the criminals who broke the rules, and the radical change-makers who picked up the scalpel when society told them to step away. Blending fascinating historical true stories with raw, personal reflections from a modern surgical career, this show will take you from the theatres of war to today’s NHS, celebrating the defiant spirit of the women who carved out a place in history—one incision at a time.
Ronnie Conboy is a storyteller, actor, coach, and ex- NHS orthopaedic surgeon. She discovered the world of storytelling many years ago in a dark forest at the Autumn Equinox, and has been chasing tales ever since. She has told stories in pubs and clubs, at festivals and firesides, in corporate offices in Germany and under an acacia tree in Kenya. She worked as an NHS surgeon for 35 years, and also uses stories for teaching innovation, for management communications training, and in resilience and wellbeing workshops for hard-pressed clinical staff. With Running with Scissors, she brings together her love of storytelling, performance, and the career that shaped her life
