As the nights draw in, reawaken your love for the traditional winter spooky story in the spirit of writers such as M R James, E F Benson, Susan Hill and Michelle Paver.

Now in its third year, Dark Winter Tales invites you to gather around and listen to a new crop of horror writers reading their own unsettling stories of the supernatural. From folk legends to Victorian ghosts, cosmic horror to speculative fiction and everything in between.

Curated and hosted by cognoscente of the creepy, Mat Troy, this atmospheric event gathers a talented selection of horror writers from Bristol and further afield, each sharing their own chilling tales of the eerie and supernatural and maybe even your own real life ghostly encounters. As the shadows grow longer and the air turns cool and crisp, let these haunting stories immerse you in a liminal world beyond our own.

All purchases for show at the Alma now have a suggested donation to the theatre and inhouse company of £3.00

The Alma Theatre has been serving the community for 25 years and has never been the recipient of ACE or other funding and were unable to secure the Covid Arts Recovery Fund. We have been offering reduced rates, preferential box office splits and extended promo support to aid the recovery from the past year and a half. Your help will enable us to continue bringing fantastic stories to your local theatre. 50% of your donation will go to the Alma Theatre, and 50% to our inhouse company, Schoolhouse Productions.
