Introduction to the Gonsalves Method: Meisner updated for the modern actor
Developed by RSC Actor-Director Aileen Gonsalves, the Gonsalves Method is an inspiring, comprehensive and replicable method for actors & directors that produces truthful performance and real connection, while fitting in with the pressures of the modern acting world.
The core philosophy of the Gonsalves Method is training actors to “see clearly and respond truthfully from your point of view”, where your point of view is expressed by defining five conditions for each scene, which together with those of scene partner produce dramatic interactions organically, with real feelings that can vary each performance.
This fun day of exercises will introduce the Gonsalves Method, teach its version of Meisner repetition (no prior experience needed), show how to work with the conditions and how to practically apply them to acting & directing.
Taught by Nathan Hook, accredited teacher of the Gonsalves Method & associate fellow of the British Psychological Society.
