Careless Talk
A one woman comedy drama charting the rise - and fall - of seaside landlady Mabel Bancroft, the only British person to be tried and charged with treason in World War II. Based on a true story, this tale opens a dialogue on the justice system in this country; who does it protect, how and why? And what of those who fall through the net, the unpopular, the uncompromising? This dialogue is as relevant now as it was then, in this frequently hilarious but ultimately moving play.
Sell out performances at the Camden Fringe, Brighton Fringe and Ventnor Fringe.
Adapted from the novel ‘Careless Talk’ by James Friel, shortlisted for the John Llewelyn Prize.
