David Eagle: Funny and Folk
Presented by Chuckle Busters
The perfect show for fans of comedy, folk music and blind people.David Eagle is a member of three-time BBC Radio 2 Folk Award-winning band The Young’uns. Since 2005 they’ve travelled the world, performed at Glastonbury with Billy Bragg, recorded a song with Vic Reeves, sung to Michaela Strachan and Chris Packham on BBC’s Springwatch, and done a chat show with Jason Donovan. None of these adventures would have happened if they hadn’t walked into a pub one Monday night at seventeen.
In 2018, David branched out into stand-up. He’s now a Radio 4 regular, with his own series See No Eagle and multiple appearances on The Now Show. In 2024 he made his TV debut on Dave’s Rosie Jones’s Disability Comedy Extravaganza and won the Edinburgh Fringe’s acclaimed Spirit of the Fringe Award, previously awarded to the likes of Stewart Lee, Ross Noble, The League of Gentlemen and Adam Hills.
Now, David is bringing his two worlds together in one show.
In Funny And Folk, he tells stories from nearly two decades of travelling the world as a blind folk musician and comedian, meeting a whole array of interesting and odd characters along the way, plus frequent forays into his favourite folk songs and a few of his own classic comedy hits.
And in case you still need convincing to come, he’ll be playing an accordion — audio’s aphrodisiac.
