Lady from the Deep

It is an evening in 1930s Cumbria. Cassilda, author and playwright, welcomes you into her living room to share the story of her magnum opus, a play called Lady from the Deep.

Warm, witty, and self-deprecating, Cassilda is wonderful company. She tells you about the inspiration behind her work, reads excerpts from the play, and performs her characters with gusto. Her creation draws on Cumbrian folklore where legend speaks of an ancient and powerful presence sleeping beneath the lakes.

As the wine flows and the storm outside intensifies, Cassilda’s readings grow stranger and more consuming. By the time the clock approaches midnight, you may start to wonder if there’s something she’s not telling you.
