Give A Little Love by Alan Stockdill
8pm Wednesday - Friday
Horfield Theatre Company presents Give A Little Love by Alan Stockdill. Four women, who all bonded in high school in the 70s over a shared love of The Bay City Rollers, reunite years later at a Bay City Rollers tribute concert. It very soon becomes apparent, that you can take the girl out of her teens, but you can’t take the teenager out of the girl! Old tunes and Old flames die hard and live again in this tale of memories and music. Laugh and cry along with Liz, Karen, Debbie and Bev and get swept away, by this entertaining, touching and revealing drama.
Give A Little Love won Best Play at the Partington Festival in 2014 and also at the Scottish Community Drama Festival in 2020. Alan himself has won the prestigious Best New Writing Award for another of his plays Le Grand Return.
About the company:
In September 1995 about 80 people from the Horfield area, began to work on a ‘one off’ production of the hit 70s musical Godspell. In February 1996 ‘Horfield Parish Productions’ cast of 27 performed to packed houses and received rave reviews. The group gave it’s final performance of Godspell at Bristol Cathedral in September 1996. High levels of energy and commitment remained with many members of the original cast and production team and so, Horfield Theatre Company was formed.
We aim to stage at least 2 productions a year and have successfully performed a wide range of musicals and plays at a number of venues, including, The Redgrave Theatre, QEH Theatre, Wells Cathedral and The Olympus Theatre Wise campus. This will be our 3rd time performing at The Alma, with the current incarnation of the group. In 2022, we performed a collection of 6 female monologues, entitled Bombshells and in May 2025, we performed 2 one act plays. Both of these performances received rave reviews and attracted packed audiences on most nights.
