Seeds of Memories by Patrick Withey
8pm Friday and Saturday
SPECIAL SENSORY PERFORMANCE SAT 4PM (Please note this is reduced capacity and a shortened version of the show - more info below)*
Recently it has felt like grief is all around us. Seeds of Memories is a wistful and uplifting show packed to the brim with puppetry and poetry. It offers a gentle exploration of losing a loved one and dealing with grief through the magic of the memories they leave behind.
Join “A” as he explores the garden and his relationship with his grandfather as both grow older together. After his Grandad passes away, “A” finds comfort in the love of nature they shared and the memories they grew together.
Inspired by the works of Dylan Thomas, simple rhymes and spoken word give way to fantastical and intricate puppetry sequences, tied together with heartbreakingly intimate naturalistic scenes which are all-too-familiar.
Created by Black Hound Productions for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, this piece is supported by the egg, Theatre Royal Bath Young Creatives Scheme.
*[Information for the 4pm Saturday Special Sensory Performance:
We're pleased to offer a special sensory version of ‘Seeds of Memories’, the 5 star Edinburgh Fringe show, containing magical puppetry, wonderful poetry and beautiful visual storytelling. With reduced levels of lighting and sound, a relaxed environment in the auditorium and the provision of a social story, ‘Seeds of Memories’ is a great chance to bring a young person along to the theatre, perhaps even for the first time.
“Imagine what it would be like if we could play games with Mother Nature, find dragons in the garden shed and grow our memories like plants. It may sound too magical to be true, perhaps it is. Maybe it's just one of Grandad's stories…”
Join us for an introduction to the theatre and to meet our actors, costumes and puppets. This will be followed by a short section of the show and ending with more time to choose elements of the piece to explore further alongside the actors.
This show contains themes of aging and death.
