Alma Tavern and Theatre, BS82HY
Description
8pm Thursday & Friday
Narcissism, noun – a condition in which somebody is only interested in themselves and what they want and has a strong need to be admired. With a lack of understanding of other people’s feelings.
The Mind of a Narcissist by Dee Taylor-Thompson is a new play which explores psychological abuse in families. Exploring how narcissists use manipulation to preserve self-love.
How can you be sure narcissism is within a family? When it is too late and the damage has been done. This new play focusses on covert narcissism and how it can affect families. Simultaneously looking at the psychological research from an objective point of view, alongside the unique point of view from the narcissistic mind.
This play wants to support narcissistic awareness. Many people who suffer this psychological abuse may not realise what is happening. They feel alone. They feel like they are crazy. They feel misunderstood and guilty. By knowing other people have experienced this pain means the survivors know it is not them. There is empathy and help.
Thomford Theatre are returning to the Alma to preview this new show before taking it to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2023. They have previously brought I Don’t Want to Talk About It by Bradley Hayward to the Alma.
