8pm Friday & Saturday
God of Carnage, a humorous play where parents behave more like kids than adults. Michel (James White) and his wife Véronique (Amanda Duffin) invite Alain (Bob Charman) and his wife Annette (Natasha Gray) to have a conversation about an incident with their kids and find a zone of possible agreement.
What seems to be a normal conversation with manners, turns into a train wreck. A tense argument reveals multiple layers of a character: emotional buttons are pressed, and boundaries are assaulted.
It turns out that rum fuels the best and the worst of each of the characters, setting off recriminations in all directions unveiling cracks in the relationships of both marriages, with tulips, cell phone, and pieces of art caught in the middle.
Written by Yasmina Reza and translated by Christopher Hampton this play won the 2009 Laurence Olivier Award for Best Comedy.
