Bird Song Walk at Altidore Castle
Missed out on a Dawn Chorus event this year?
In Association with Historic Houses of Ireland, Altidore Castle is hosting a FREE bird song walk across the estate on Sunday, May 17th to celebrate National Biodiversity Week.
In their long established and newly planted native woodlands, Altidore recorded over sixty species of birds during 2025 from stalwarts like Robins, Chaffinches and Goldfinches to more rarely seen species such as Crossbill and Great Spotted Woodpecker.
Led by Joe Lennon, a skilled fieldwork volunteer with BirdWatch Ireland, we will walk up the old back avenue of Altidore and along the long established oak walk and hopefully learn how to identify some birds by song along the way.
Please wear clothing appropriate to a cool Spring morning. And please leave your dog (other than guide dog) at home so they don’t scare off the birds!.
Note: Event is limited to twenty people.
*Meeting Point at Back Gate of Altidore Estate, NOT Front Gate*
