AMARU: Create & Connect
An afternoon of creativity, conversation & conscious connection.
Sunday 22 November 2026 | 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Brews and Views, Montrose Park| Women Only
Candle Painting • Creativity • Reflection • Connection • Smoothies & Dessert
Come and create.
Wellbeing doesn't always have to look like yoga, meditation or sitting in stillness.
Sometimes it looks like picking up a paintbrush.
Making something with your hands.
Trying something you've never done before.
Laughing with the person sitting next to you.
Choosing colours simply because you love them.
And remembering what it feels like to create without needing the end result to be perfect.
Create & Connect is a Sunday afternoon designed around a different kind of wellbeing — one rooted in creativity, play, friendship and making something with your hands.
As adults, we don't always give ourselves many opportunities to create simply for the joy of creating.
There is usually a purpose, a deadline or an outcome attached to what we do.
This afternoon is different.
You don't need to be artistic.
You don't need to have painted before.
And you definitely don't need to create the "perfect" candle.
For a few hours, you get to switch off from everything else, sit around a table with other women and make something that is completely yours.
Come curious. Come creative. Come exactly as you are.
The Experience
We'll spend the afternoon together painting candles, talking, creating and connecting — with smoothies, dessert and a small moment of reflection while our candles dry.
Arrive
We'll begin with a smoothie and time to settle into the space.
Choose your smoothie, find your seat, meet the women around you and give yourself a few minutes to arrive.
There's no rush to jump straight into an activity.
This is your Sunday afternoon.
Create
After a short welcome from Amaru, we'll introduce Monika, the artist behind Ancheva Designs, who will be leading our two-hour candle-painting workshop.
Monika will guide us through the process, sharing ideas, techniques and inspiration before giving you the freedom to make your candles your own.
This isn't an art class where everybody's work needs to look the same.
There is no right way to create your candle.
The point isn't perfection.
The point is giving yourself permission to make something with your hands and rediscover some of the wonder and curiosity we often leave behind as life gets busier.
A Letter to January
While our candles dry, we'll slow things down for a small Amaru reflection.
After all the colour and energy of December, January can sometimes feel a little grey.
So before we rush into Christmas, we're going to leave a little something behind for the version of ourselves who will meet January.
A letter from you, to you.
We'll give you a card, envelope and a few gentle prompts.
You might write about what you want to remember from this year.
Amaru will keep it safe and post it back to you in the new year.
One day in January, amongst the bills, post and everyday life, an envelope will arrive.
Written in your own handwriting.
A small gift from your past self to your future self.
Connect
Around all of this, there will be time to talk.
Connection at Amaru isn't about awkward networking or forced conversations.
Come with your best friend, your sister, your mum or come completely on your own.
There is space for all of it.

This Might Be for You If...
You spend a lot of your week working, organising, planning or looking after other people and miss doing things simply because they're fun.
You'd love to do something creative but don't consider yourself particularly artistic.
You've been wanting to meet new people but traditional networking or social events aren't really your thing.
You'd like to spend a Sunday afternoon doing something different with a friend.
You're coming on your own and would love to be in a welcoming room with other women.
You like the idea of leaving your phone alone for a little while and doing something with your hands.
You want to make something that you can actually take home and enjoy.
Or perhaps life has just felt a little too serious lately.
Maybe you need an afternoon to play.
That's enough.
Why Create & Connect?
At Amaru, we believe wellbeing can take many forms.
Sometimes we need stillness.
Sometimes we need movement.
Sometimes we need to talk.
And sometimes we need to stop thinking so much and make something with our hands.
Creativity asks us to be present.
To notice colour and texture.
To experiment.
To make mistakes.
To follow curiosity rather than a to-do list.
And when we create alongside other people, something else happens too.
Conversation flows differently.
We connect without forcing it.
We share ideas.
We inspire each other.
We remember that wellbeing isn't only about slowing down.
Sometimes it's about feeling alive, curious and creative again.
Before the Day
We know that walking into somewhere new — particularly when you're coming alone — can sometimes feel a little daunting.
So around one week before Create & Connect, you'll receive an email from us with everything you need to know.
We'll show you where you're going, explain parking and arrival and walk you through what to expect when you get there.
You'll also be able to make your smoothie and dessert selections ahead of the event, so everything can be prepared for you.
No wondering where to park.
No worrying about what you're supposed to bring.
No wondering whether everyone else is secretly an amazing artist.
They aren't. And you don't need to be either.
If you're coming alone, you won't be the only one.
All you need to do is arrive.
We'll take it from there.

A Little About Amaru
Amaru is inspired by the Gujarati word "અમારું", meaning "our."
Because wellbeing doesn't always have to be something we work on alone.
Amaru creates spaces for women to look after themselves, try something different and connect — without pressure, performance or expectation.
Sometimes that might mean slowing down.
Sometimes it might mean moving.
And sometimes it might mean sitting around a table, paintbrush in hand, remembering how good it feels to create.
A place to make time for yourself while being part of something shared.
Our journey. Our wellbeing. Our community.

Brews and Views
An afternoon to put your phone down.
Pick up a paintbrush.
Make something with your hands.
Talk to someone new.
Drink something delicious.
Write a few words to the person you'll be when January arrives.
And remember that looking after yourself doesn't always have to feel serious.
Sometimes wellbeing looks like creativity.
Sometimes it looks like play.
Sometimes it looks like connection.
And sometimes it looks like a candle you painted yourself on a Sunday afternoon in November.
